“Sometimes we bring to a struggle or cause the gifts we see most clearly, a courage,
a strength, or a charm others have told us we have. But often we find more is asked
of us than that, more than we intended or thought we possessed. We are asked to
offer that which we thought dearest, to forgive what seemed unpardonable, to face
what we feared the most and endure it. Sometimes we have to travel to the last step
a path that was not of our own choosing. But I promise you this… it will lead to a
greater joy in the end. The difficulty is that the end is beyond our sight, it is a
matter of faith, not of knowledge.”
– ANNE PERRY, A CHRISTMAS VISITOR
MERRILY BJERKESTRAND
A dynamic and one-of-a-kind program that lays a strong foundation for building strong skills of manners, etiquette, and communication.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Sometimes life requires much of us and we can easily find ourselves overwhelmed, marking time, or just treading water. Perhaps the traditional resources or avenues for help have fallen short, because you or your loved one, “just doen’t fit”… again. You or someone you care about could be one of many swimming in the unique waters os Special People and Special Needs.
Merrily Bjerkestrand’s varied and combined experience as an etiquette consultant, Special Education teacher, coach, mentor, and parent, qualifies her to be a unique resource for help and support. Over twenty years of experience in each of these areas have given her a diverse set of strategies and tools to help those who find themselves struggling against the current or tide of “typical” solutions most commonly available. She can also just listen.
While Ms. Bjerkestrand is not qualified to diagnose mental, cognitive, emotional,
psychological, or handicapping conditions, and does not, she remains an avenue of support
and expertise in dealing with some of these and their individual uniquenesses.
- Her knowledge, familiarity, and comfort level with those identified with special
needs and impairments, those ‘undiagnosed but suspicious’, or those considered just
socially awkward, create an ease of conversation and dialogue regarding options and
possibilities. - Her heart of acceptance, compassion, and service give her a willingness to listen, try and explore options that lead to client confidence and authenticity.
- Attaining the skills and strategies that support living a life beyond the waterline, the one that separates who we are
from who we want to be, is the goal of this program.
This program is offered through a consultation or coaching format via Skype or conference call. Available by arrangement to individuals, caregivers (or tired care-needers), teachers, groups, or businesses.
